London Fashion Week SS20: Emilia Wickstead X Code8 Recap
Known for her modern femininity and love of strong colours, the Emilia Wickstead SS20 show was everything we needed to see this London Fashion Week. Inspired by the 1970s version of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women as well as the upcoming remake by Greta Gerwig, the collection paid homage to the iconic story’s four strong female leads. (And we’re here for anything that celebrates girl power.)
Fans of Big Dress Energy will be pleased to know Emilia Wickstead is making sure voluminous dressing isn’t going anywhere. Oversized sleeves took centre stage, with silhouettes becoming ever larger as the show went on. Gingham print and micro florals injected some fun into the looks while A-line and structured shapes were perfect for those who are slightly less daring. The unifying factor? It was unashamedly girly.
To complement the runway looks, we teamed up with make-up artist Lucy Bridge to create a bright red lipstick. A personal favourite of Emilia’s, it’s a delicate balance of three colours: a bright orange, a primary red and a bold pink. It’s a perfect shade for women who are fearlessly and unapologetically themselves. (Aka us.)
All the beauty looks were inspired by independence, family and romance - key themes from Little Women - and arguably most of our lives. The base was natural and radiant with the colourful, bright lip grabbing all the attention. This is a look for women who are changemakers, trailblazers and girl bosses. Want to channel Emilia’s Little Women in your own life? Here’s how to recreate the look:
Wake up your complexion by smoothing Radiate Beauty Balm all over the face for a natural base. Using the Seamless Cover Concealer, lightly cover any imperfections under eyes and on any red areas. Keep everything in place with a touch of Matte Velour Mattifying Powder dusted all over the face to keep shine at bay.
Next, apply the Highlight HD Palette - Between Two Women on the high points of the cheekbone and eyelids for a natural glow.
Finish the look with a swipe of Matte Velour Limited Edition Emilia Wickstead Lipstick, available exclusively at Net-A-Porter of course!
