For Hooded Eyes
How to make the most of your beautiful hooded eye shape
If you can’t see your eyelid when your eyes are open, it’s likely that you have hooded eyes. This means that you have an extra fold of skin that covers your crease, so you’ll have to apply makeup slightly differently to let your natural beauty shine. Don’t worry, it’s simple and easy to do.
We've partnered up with @scotstyleeditorto bring you her top 5 tips when it comes to makeup for hooded eyes
Open up your eyes with light shadow
Take the Code 8 Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Burnt Sienna and apply the lightest shade as base all over the eye. Using this colour will help to make the lid area appear bigger, whereas dark shades can make the eye seem much smaller. The eyeshadows in this palette have been created using Knead Technology, which means they are intensely pigmented and easy to blend. Using this light shade wet or dry with a fluffy brush will give your eye a gorgeous sheen of colour and make it seem wider and more open.
Create your own crease for a striking look
Define your brow bone with the medium brown shade from the Code8 Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Burnt Sienna’ and recreate your own eye crease. Using a fluffy brush, work the colour into your eye socket to create more depth and dimension. The silky texture of the shadow means you can pack in colour without it becoming cakey, and the Sweet Almond Oil and Evening Primrose Oil extracts will even keep your lid soft and nourished.
Add a twinkle to your eye by illuminating the inner corner
Adding a touch of highlight to the inner corner of your eyelids and on the lower lash line will help make your eyes seem bigger. The Code8 Blush Palette in Rosé has the perfect shade of the job. Take the bottom shade of the trio and apply it wet or damp using your finger. Bend it gently on your inner corner, for a pop of brightness that instantly illuminates your eyes.
Use your eyebrows to extend your eyes
Brushing your brows upwards and outwards can give your eyes a lift, so take the Code8 Arch Realist Brow Defining Pencil in the shade closest to your hair colour and use the spoolie end of the tool to brush your hairs. Then take the pencil and create small upwards strokes to fill in any gaps. The formula is infused with nourishing Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E, so it has an ultra-soft texture and a subtle powder finish that looks completely natural.
Bring the drama with mascara
Nothing widens the eyes quite like long lashes, so use Code8’s Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara to coat yours from root to tip. Film-forming agents give the formula its long-wearing and smudge-proof qualities, while the Vitamins E and A extracts restructure the lashes and build their defence against environmental damage. Just one coat will be enough to create a doe-eyed look and really give your hooded eyes the wow factor.
We hope you have found these makeup tips for hooded eyes helpful, and that you now feel confident enough to embrace your natural eye shape and define your unique features.
