Milan Fashion Week Street Style SS20
With Paris just around the corner, Milan Fashion Week is the final chance for showgoers to trial new trends before fashion month’s French finale. Everyone from the editors and the buyers to the bloggers pulled out all the stops for the SS20 shows and there was endless outfit inspo on offer. Think double tap-worthy dresses (as seen on Leonie Hanne @leoniehanne) and attention-grabbing accessories.
More is always more in Milan, so when it comes to the SS20 street style we weren’t surprised to see striking colours, eye-catching prints and oversized tailoring absolutely everywhere. Model and influencer Jessica Kahawaty @jessicakahawaty, pictured here in a snakeskin look, was just one of the many well-dressed grabbing the photographers attention.
Hot pink was the colour of choice this season. The unashamedly girly shade took centre stage on co-ords, maxi dresses and mules (our personal favourite). Flattering on every skin tone, we’re sure this is one look that will be sticking around for a while.
Of course wherever there is light there is darkness, and in a response to the jewel tones and fabulous patterns several showgoers (including Brittany Xavier @brittanyxavier) decided on all-black looks topped with sharp blazers. Milan has a rich heritage of artisanal craftsmanship especially when it comes to suiting, so this dark homage felt totally right. When in Italy...
Peter Pilotto made the move over from London for this season and it seems the brand’s most loyal fans have followed him. Outside of his show saw a sea of his signature all-over prints and rich colours (the label’s design calling cards).
The street style accessory of choice this season? Headbands. More often than not made from silk and perched towards the back of the head, this time around the school girl staple is all grown up. The Milanese crowd preferred to wear them with a dress of a similar shade (and it looks so chic we’ll definitely be doing the same).
Jewellery-wise it was all about big earrings in Milan. A style staple of Anna Dell Russo and so many more, they’re an easy way to up your jewellery game. Influencer Jessica Wang @jessicawang chose to wear her ornate oversized hoops with a utilitarian jumpsuit. The perfect combination of tough and luxe.
