Paris Fashion Week SS20: Lanvin x Code8 Recap
Lanvin’s SS20 show was full of theatre. Set in the gardens of Musee de Quai Branly in Paris the heavens opened and the runway was silent except for the pitter-patter of the rain. Guests were handed headphones to listen to the music which played the soundtracks of Lord of the Flies and The King and the Mockingbird as the show began.
Bruno Sialelli’s collection was called ‘Slumberland’ after a cartoon created by Windsor McCay which debuted in the comics section of The New York Herald in 1905. In the cartoon the main character, Little Nemo, had wondrous nightly dreams full of adventures. Sialelli’s collection was inspired by these dreams and adventures and were reimagined in comic strip prints and ethereal dresses. It was love-able and in some cases child-like and charming.
It wasn’t just the comic strip print that stood out, Sialelli’s architectural tailoring stole the show. A dramatic white cape, cocoon jackets and trouser suits took inspiration from the 1950s and 60s wardrobe and the era of Truman Capote and his swans. And not forgetting the exaggerated balloon sleeves and duvet-like textures which gave even the most serious of pieces a playful edge.
The models had slicked back hair so their face was the focal beauty point during Paris Fashion Week SS20. Lead makeup artist Diane Kendal made sure the beauty look also took inspiration from Sialelli’s dream-like and ethereal show collection with the models having a dewy and fresh base, winged eyeliner, with a pink and mauve undertone.
Want to be part of Nemo’s adventures? This is how you can recreate the look.
Diane created a fresh and dewy base by using Radiate Beauty Balm. It provides definition but leaves a velvety finish. To finish your base, use a touch of Seamless Cover Concealer to cover any dark areas or blemishes.
The eyes were kept simple with a classic winged eyeliner using our Precision Liquid Eyeliner and a touch of Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara for a natural yet defined eye.
Using Highlight HD Palette in Between Two Women accentuate your features using the lighter shade on your brow bone, cheek bones and down the centre of your nose. Then sweep the darker shade under your cheekbone and around your temples. A dash of Blush Palette in Pink Beach and Bronze Summer Glow Powder in Positano was applied on the cheeks completed the look.
To finish the look use Colour Brilliant Lipstick in Cappadocia for a creamy touch of pink with a mauve undertone.
