Fashionable Face Coverings

In the UK, it’s now becoming mandatory to wear masks in public transport and highly encouraged in public places to protect both yourself and others. Many countries across Europe and elsewhere around the world have adopted similar policies for the foreseeable future as well. So, if you’re planning to purchase face masks, we recommend opting for reusable and washable face masks. Most people are looking for cloth face masks instead of surgical and N95s due to the ongoing shortage of PPE for healthcare and essentials workers.

Many celebrities like Billie Eilish and Cara Delevigne have been spotted wearing face coverings at fashion shows since the start of the pandemic. And while a face covering isn't a fashion accessory per se, there’s no doubt that they’re going to be a prominent daily accessory in our lives for the time being, so we thought it'd be fun to find some face coverings that are both functional and fashionable. Below, we’ve scoped out some of our favourite fashionable finds—read on to find your perfect fit.

What to look for in a face covering

Disposable vs. Reusable

Both work well in term of breathability and blocking respiratory droplets. However, since the disposable version were designed to be only used once and then thrown away, which could be damaging to the environment. Washable mask is a better alternative for a long-term use.

How many layers do you need?

It is recommended by the WHO to look for a reusable mask with a minimum of three layers.

What material is best?

Look for higher quality fabrics with a tighter weave and thicker thread as they do a better job at blocking droplets.
