Yes, We Cannes: Code8 On The Red Carpet
When it comes to glamorous events, it almost goes without saying that Cannes sort of takes the cake. And, for when it comes to testing the merits of good make-up, also. Think about it: Cannes events start during daylight, with hot unforgiving Riviera sun coming at ya’, lots and lots of people, and cameras going off left, right and centre. As such, natural polish is called for – make-up that stays put (those photographers aren’t only there on arrivals, they’re still there when you leave), but that also doesn’t appear mask-like. Those Getty photos are uploaded completely unretouched. It’s no surprise then that a number of esteemed make-up artists at Cannes this year used Code8 on a number of amazing women who attended the film festival. (And on one Palme d’Or winner!) Let’s take a look….
A leading figure in the make-up industry, Margo Holder used Code8 to create natural-with-a-hint-of-drama red carpet looks on Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha as well as on fashion personality and street style queen Erica Pelosini.
Code8 ambassador and London-based make-up artist Kristina Vidic worked with the incredibly stunning model Stella Maxwell, who wore a sleek suit and lacy bodysuit to the amfAR gala complete with unexpected statement-making hairdresser clips in her long blonde mane. Kristina also used Code8 on American model Hailey Clauson and Brazilian fashion blogger Lala Rudge.
Known for her natural and flawless looks, Phoenix magazine beauty editor and make-up artist Tania Grier used Code8 on a number of actresses at Cannes, as well as on the elegant Rose Uniacke, the well-known interior decorator, antique dealer and furniture designer.
Via Tania, Code8 also graced the faces of Sarah Winter, who stars in the TV show Versailles, and Aggy K. Adams who plays Ramona in the super-sweet film Oh Ramona!.
Oh, and Tania worked her magic on one highly notable talent. One of our most exciting inclusions at the Cannes Film Festival this year has to be on the lovely British actress Emily Beecham. Emily won the Best Actress Palme D’Or award for her role as Alice in the drama film Little Joe. (Congrats Emily!)
Tania has said: “We kept the make-up simple to compliment Emily’s porcelain skin and radiant hair colour, and in keeping with Code8 tradition I used only 8 products.” To create Emily’s red carpet makeup look she used: Radiate Beauty Balm NC05, Day to Night Foundation No 10, Iconoclast Shadow Palette - Burnt Sienna, Contour Eye Pencil - Classic Black, Lash Sophisticate Mascara, Seamless Cover Concealer No10, Blush Palette in Rosé, and Lipstick in La Piscine.
We’re so proud of being part of these Cannes Film Festival looks and demonstrating how easy it is to create a red-carpet makeup look with just 8 products. Lights, camera, action. And strut.
