Every season, David Koma delights us with his sultry statement dresses and sculptural silhouettes—and this time was no different. The Spring Summer 2020 collection saw the beloved London designer celebrate his 10th anniversary in the industry, and we’ve never wanted to be a #KomaGirl more.
Taking a recent trip to Kenya as the inspiration for the latest collection, the show was full of the tight bustiers and sliced denim we’ve come to expect from the brand alongside exotic beadwork in the shape of zebra print and rhino-shaped belt buckles.
The beauty looks were created by us in collaboration with celebrity make-up artist Andrew Gallimore. Together we designed a new lip shade for the show – what better way to celebrate this incredible milestone with the brand? The David Koma Matte Velour Lipstick we formulated is matte but never flat and is infused with nourishing waxes so it won’t dry out your pout. Inspired by the independent spirit of the #KomaGirl, it’s a wearable nude that complements all skin tones. Think of it as the ultimate “your-lips-but-better” shade. Perfect for applying when you’re on-the-go – no mirror necessary.
Continuing to pay tribute to the playful persona of the David Koma girl (hello carefree queen!), this season’s beauty look was all about effortless but understated party make-up. No harsh lines or heavy formulas to be found, thank you very much. Instead think an amplified natural base, an iridescent eye and a nude lip. Here’s how you can recreate the SS20 show look:
Ready for the fun part? To create the iridescent eye look, take the Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in either Burnt Sienna and Jaipur Marbles and using the shade of your choice add a wash of colour to the lids.
Next smudge the AM/PM Tinted Lip Balm in Chameleon onto the lids, buffing it into the eyeshadow with a fluffy brush or your fingers. This creates that high shine, wet look that’s so in right now (we love that ‘90s beauty looks are coming back).
