For a few added expert tips, we turned to Melissa Afonso, Head of Sourcing at Quintessentially Gifts in London for her insights. She told us that to make sure you’re on the right track, a key question to ask yourself is whom you are really buying this for. “I think the biggest mistake that women make when buying for men is giving things that we would actually like them to have and thereby projecting our ideals onto them, rather than actually paying attention to things they might really enjoy or are interested in. Gifting should be selfless and should be reflective of the person you are buying for.”
While Melissa says that tech gifts continue to trend when it comes to men’s presents, double-gifting is also on the rise. “What works well is to include two gifts so you cover both a physical gift and also an experiential gift - that way they have a keepsake but also memories of an experience enjoyed together and it can be inexpensive like tickets to a gallery viewing or even planning to go to, say, a planetarium together if that is what he is interested in.”
She adds: “But stay away from practical presents, unless absolutely essential.” Happy gifting.
