to Watch Right Now
Are you struggling to find the next show to watch on Netflix? With a vast choice of TV series available with the click of a button, the selection stage inevitably becomes the hardest part of your night. No time to rake through all the programmes to find some gems? Here are seven series to dive into for your every mood—now you can binge on them to your heart's desire.
Money Heist
A Spanish crime drama. A group of robbers follows “The Professor's” meticulous heist plan as they attempt to steal 2.4 billion euros from the Royal Mint Bank of Spain.
La Casa de Papel—or Money Heist—was rated 2018's ‘most-watched non-English language Netflix series’, finding its popularity among both celebrities and a global audience alike. The show's added complexity of an unreliable narrator alongside uses of flashbacks and time-jumps make an entertaining watch. The main characters change the preconceived villain's perception with their flaws and yet endearing and charismatic personalities—you can't help but root for them.
Kingdom
A South Korean political period drama, but with zombies! Set during the Korean Joseon era, the story follows the Crown Prince, Lee Chang, as he stumbles across a political conspiracy and the spread of a mysterious plague.
Not quite a feel-good zombie show, Kingdom is not for the faint of heart. With non-stop suspense and gore, alongside slightly inconvenient slow-motion shots of the protagonist's sexy smouldering gaze—this TV show will have you pressing "next episode" before it even autoplays.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness
An American true-crime documentary on the life of eccentric zoo owner, Joe Exotic; this miniseries focuses on the conflicts between him and Big Cat conservationist, Carole Baskin.
This documentary depicts the bizarre lives of an interconnected society of tiger owners in America. A captivating true crime story with many surprising and compelling twists. Uncover Exotic's unusual personal life and his hectic rivalry with Carole Baskin, which involved the exchange of threatening social media videos and legal allegations. It's mad, messy and totally mind-blowing. You won't be able to stop talking about it.
Terrace House
A Japanese Reality-TV franchise that follows the lives of six strangers, three men and three women, as they navigate through life while struggling to find love and follow their dreams. This show where nothing happens is a global hit with a massive cult following.
Unlike other Reality-TV shows that thrive on drama, Terrace House's lack of it feels relaxing and addictive. The contestants are surprisingly human without being fame-hungry. The majority of the show's friction stems from differing personal needs/morals and minor personality flaws, which feels ordinary, yet relatable. This must-watch show also displays endless soul-soothing food shots—the perfect way to unwind.
Ozark
An American crime drama starring Jason Bateman as a Financial Advisor involved in a money-laundering scheme gone sour. In the hope of appeasing a Mexican drug overlord with an even bigger money-laundering operation, he relocates his family from Chicago to the Ozarks.
With its satisfyingly complex plot and brilliant performances, follows a "fish-out-of-water" storyline of a main protagonist with a seemingly mundane life that suddenly becomes involved in the world of crime. The show is full of tension, clever twists and questionable moral dilemmas, all of which will have you gripped and shouting for more.
The Witcher
A Polish-American fantasy drama, the story is based on a book series of the same name. It stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, or The Witcher. Set in a fictional medieval world known as "the Continent" that follows the main protagonists on a non-linear timeline.
The story is a dark fantasy following a set of protagonists, ranging from a magically-enhanced monster hunter, Gerald of Rivia, the crown princes of Cintra, Ciri and a sorceress, Yennefer, on their quest to find their place in the world. If you love magical fiction with a hint of skin and dark humour, this series is for you.
Next in Fashion
A reality and fashion design competition show hosted by Tan France and our very own ambassador, Alexa Chung. Eighteen up-and-coming professional designers compete for the chance to debut their collection on Net-A-Porter and to win a cash prize of $250K.
Alexa Chung and Tan France serve both as hosts and judges, alongside two or three industry expert judges for each challenge. The designers have to work as pairs to present their on-trend creations on the catwalk, which sometimes lead to frictions due to different personal styles. Watch it for wondrous fashion trends and inspiration to sport once lockdown is over.
