Halloween: Makeup Looks Inspired by Iconic Movies

For those who haven’t had time to splurge on a full Halloween costume or even invest in fake blood, we’ve come up with some easy-to-do iconic looks that will complement any ensemble you may already have hanging in your closet.

We’ve asked the Code8 team what their favourite movie of all time is and the beauty products they need to replicate the look worn by their signature character.

Here’s how we plan on channelling some of the most iconic movie characters this Halloween using some of our favourite Code8 products for an effortless and easy-to-do approach to the spooky season.

The Addams Family (1991) Morticia Adams played by Anjelica Huston

The look: A pale face with dark lips and scorching eyes

What you’ll need:

1. Apply our Day to Night Foundation or Radiate Beauty Balm in a few shades lighter than your skin tone. Use the Seamless Cover Concealer to reduce any imperfections and set your base with the Matte Velour Powder.

2. For the eyes, apply the base shade of the new Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Velvet Chrome to the entire lid. Next, take the highlight shades to the outer corner of the eye and blend toward the brow. Apply plenty of the metallic berry highlight over lid, make sure to blend up and into the inner corner. Use Contour eye pencil in Classic Black to define the eye makeup look. Use the same black pencil to outline your lips and blend inwards for a fade. Applying Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara on the roots of the lashes and work the brush upwards. 

3. Finish your makeup look with a slick of Glazé Lip Lacquer in Gala and viola, you are out the door in no time.

The Look: Defined eyes and a strong lip

What you’ll need:

1.  Apply your base with Day to Night Foundation or Radiate Beauty Balm (if you struggle to find your perfect shade, click here to read our guide.) Use the Seamless Cover Concealer to hide or reduce any imperfections you might have and finish your base with our Matte Velour Powder

2. Next step is the eye makeup. Use our Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Burnt Sienna, and apply the red shades on the eyelids. Apply our Contour eye pencil in Classic Black to the upper and lower lash line to define the eye makeup look. Finish the eye makeup look by applying Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara on top and bottom lashes, repeat this process to give a bold eye effect.

3. Add some colour to the cheeks with our multipurpose 5secs Express Lip & Cheek Colour. You can also apply to lips and eyelids to create a glossy finish. 

4.  For the lips, we are loving either Glazé Lip Lacquer in Gala or Opera for along-lasting intense 3D latex-look effect. Spooky yet chic.

The Look:  A soft complexion, pink cheeks and shimmery eyes. 

What you’ll need:

1. Have a natural base with Radiate Beauty Balm and apply Seamless Cover Concealer to leave a radiant and dewy look. 

2. Use our Blush Palette that suits your complexion on your cheeks and eyelids to create a seamless and quick natural makeup look. Create a more intense and glowy definition by applying Highlight HD Palette - Between Two Women on eyelids and cheeks to heighten the shimmer effect. Define the eyes with Contour Eye Pencil in Mocha to get the total Betty look. Finish the eye makeup with a few coats of Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara

3. Nude lips are the perfect shade to create look, give a barely-there hint of colour using AM/PM Tinted Lip Balm in At The Barre and Spin City, as well as 5Secs Express Lip and Cheek colour  or Colour Brilliance Lipstick in Wanderlus

The Look: A contoured complexion with dramatic eyes and a neutral lip.

What you’ll need:

1.  Create a fresh and dewy base by using our Radiate Beauty Balm, it gives the skin a glowy and velvety finish. To finish your base, use a touch of Seamless Cover Concealer to cover any dark areas or any blemishes. 

2. To make your eyes pop just like Deena, apply the Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Jaipur Marbles. Look at the back of the palette to get step by step and easy to apply a dramatic eye makeup look. Use Precision Liquid Liner in Carbon Black and apply a couple of layers of Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara for fluttering lashes.

3. Finish your Halloween makeup look by using Bronze Summer Glow Powder to create a natural glowy tan and accentuate your cheekbones with a sweep of Highlight HD Palette in Between Two Women

The look: A soft dewy complexion offset with a soft pink lip and cheek and offset with a striking eye

What you’ll need:

1.  Start your makeup look by applying the Radiate Beauty Balm all over the face for a glowy, natural-looking base. Its combination of pectin and argan seed oil nourishes your skin and add radiance. Add the Seamless Cover Concealer to hide any imperfections and veins.

2.  Create a dramatic eye makeup with our Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Lustrous Corduroy.  3. Apply Matte Velour Lipstick in Pop Art for that bright red on the lip to make heads turn just like Danny Zucko’s, blend the product over your cheeks for the blushing effect.

The look: Sparkling blue shadow, black eyeliner and soft nude lip

What you’ll need:

1. Apply our iconic Radiant Beauty Balm all over face for a light coverage that gives a velvety finish. Cover any blemishes with Seamless Cover Perfecting Concealer. 

2. If you don’t have a blue eyeshadow, you can use any form of blue pigment to sweep over your entire lid, layer with Highlight HD Palette, Between Two Women and top with Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black. Use layers of Lash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara to create a bold and dramatic look. 

3. Finish the look with Colour Brilliance lipstick in La Piscine for a queen-inspired finish.

The look: Cat eye framed with a contoured complexion and a light lip.

What you’ll need: 

1. Start your makeup look with Radiate Beauty Balm to give a lightweight texture, leaving your skin looking naturally radiant and smooth. Apply Seamless Cover Concealer to blur any imperfections and smooth out skin while keeping it hydrated.
