How to show your best friends some love this Galentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is coming up, but have you heard of Galentine’s Day? Celebrated just before on February 13th, it’s the annual tradition of showing your appreciation for your nearest and dearest friends. Whether you’re single or in a relationship, you can support and uplift your favourite people by spoiling them with special gifts and experiences. We’ve rounded up our top present ideas for Galentine’s Day, so you won’t be stumped on what to get your besties.

Treat them to a bespoke lipstick experience

There’s nothing quite like the heartbreak of your favourite lipstick shade being discontinued (apart from maybe losing your perfect nude lip colour on the morning commute). If someone you know is currently suffering from one of these make-up woes, bring them to the Code8 Colour ID Lab at our Burlington Arcade store.

They’ll work together with a Colour Maestro to create a bespoke, custom-made lipstick. While they wait for their shade to be mixed, they’ll receive a personalised makeover and champagne to share with you! The perfect Galentines present for everyone involved!

Give them a day out they’ll never forget

Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating the joy of friendship, so spending quality time together is key. Why not book a jewellery-making workshop at London Jewellery School, try a disco yoga class or (if you’re feeling really adventurous) take an indoor skydiving session? Not only will you be trying something new, you’ll also be making memories that you can treasure for years to come. And you can’t put a price on that.

Or a night to remember

It might be a cliché but sometimes there’s nothing better than a girls night. Start with face masks and your favourite snacks, before giving each other makeovers for a proper pampering experience. Our award-winning Highlight HD Palette in Between Two Women looks flattering on all skin tones, so get sharing! Created using innovative Knead Technology, it’s luxuriously silky and safe to use on eyelids as eyeshadow, as well as a traditional highlight on the brow bone, cheekbones and tip of your nose. Once you’re fully made up hit the town and dance all night or stay in with some movies and takeaway. Either way, you’ll have a flawless face that will make you feel fabulous.

You can’t go wrong with a personalised present

Thoughtful gifts are always the best kind, so picking up a copy of their favourite album on vinyl, finding the first edition of their favourite book or giving them a pressing of their favourite flower are all great ways to show you care on Galentines Day. To make things extra special why not commission an artist to create a unique artwork just for them. Elliot Byrne creates bespoke prints you won’t find anywhere else, while Sarah Leigh paints beautiful pet portraits (perfect for pet lovers.)

Have fun with secret swaps

If you’ve got a big group of friends a beauty present swap could be the way to go. Similar to Secret Santa, you each buy a gift for someone in the group and gift it to them anonymously. Our top Galentines gift choices? The Iconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Velvet Chrome, which can be used wet or dry and comes with six highly pigmented, universally flattering colours for endless experimentation, and the 5secs Express Lip & Cheek Colour. It’s multi-purposed, ultra-nourishing and loved by editors and bloggers including @sorayabakhtiar and @leivankash.

Food is always well received

Everyone loves food, so show a friend how much you appreciate them by signing them up for a food subscription service. British Fine Foods offers a monthly Pie Lovers’ Club subscription, where they send a selection of award-winning pork and oven ready pies straight to a foodies door. While it may not sound ultra-glamorous—it’s the ideal gift for anyone who dreads a dash to the supermarket or for those who simply love to try new snacks.
